Description of Holiday Apartment
Seerose is a family run Apartment hotel in the beautiful village of Obertraun on the edge of Lake Hallstatt only 4kms from Hallstatt itself. The hotel has 8 newly refurbished self contained one and two bedroom apartments. Each apartment has a spacious lounge/dining area and kitchen. Each bedroom has its own en-suite shower room. All apartments have Sat TV, DVD players and one or two balconies for you to enjoy the views and clean fresh mountain air.
In addition to our self catered apartment we offer bed and breakfast and a 'fully catered' package during the winter months.
For winter skiing breaks the area is a haven for families - the excellent ski schools, great piste and easy access make the Dachstein Ski Region one of the top destinations for families.If adventure and thrills are more you - then check out the Krippenstein above the village of Obertraun where the Free Ride area has just been voted the best off piste in Europe.
As an Apartment Hotel, we offer a choice of self catering, bed and breakfast or during the winter months a fully catered package. We have a Bar & Restaurant open every day at 4pm for afternoon tea or more refreshment!
We are flexible so if you are self catering and fancy a night off, book and come and have dinner in the bar. We prepare a dinner menu for the week, but if you have any special catering needs please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements. Dinner is two courses with wine or beer with meal and coffee to follow for 20 Euros per head.
You may prefer our fully catered package, available the winter months priced from 50 Euros per person per night for dinner, bed, breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meal. If you have small children we can serve their dinner earlier leaving you to enjoy your meal at a later time.
Visit St. Wolfgang is a traditional Austrian lakeside town full of character. There are shops, horse & carriage rides, Lake Steamer tours and a famous steam railway the Schafbergbahn.
Golf Facilities
In the heart of the Lake District you will find one of Austria's oldest golf courses.
The Salzkammergut Golf Course - 18 holes - par 72. Length, ladies 5188 m | Length, gents 5890 m. Clubs available for hire.
The ancient high trees and the deep blue lake with it's overgrown banks both contribute to the charm of this challenging old course.
The club lays claim to one famous old member Edward, Prince of Wales who played here in 1937. Lush green fairways, lakes, billard smooth greens and then on the 16th fairway a breathtaking view of the Salzkammergut mountains awaits every player.

Horse Riding Facilities
Horse Riding in Austria:
Riding in Obertraun is much more than just a riding lesson! You groom first, tack up your pony and then enjoy a ride in the beautiful scenery surrounding Obertraun, the lake and forests. Lesson start at 12 Euros per hour. Please ask for more details.
Beaches / Coast
We are less than one minutes walk to the Strandbad - the beautiful lakeside bathing area. The beach is a perfect place to spend an afternoon after a long morning walking or biking. Children will enjoy playing at the park and splashing in the cool, clear waters.
The Blue Dome: Newly opened, this unique park explores everything to do with water. Its an attraction that the weather can’t spoil. Situated near Wolfgangsee approximately 35 minutes by car from Obertraun. See www.bluedome.at for more information
Special Interest
Mountain biking is fun and we have storage for your bikes and a choice of bikes for hire.There are over 400 kms of dedicated Mountain bike trails and specially prepared cycle routes. Pathways are well signed with plenty of Gasthof’s for refrehment-stops en-route. Get Paths and Trail maps from the local tourist office.
The Salzkammergut Mountain bike trophy held each July in Bad Goisern, with entries from around the world.
Canoeing: 2 local companies offer much from basic canoe hire to white water rafting.We provide our own 4 man canoe for hire.
Walking and Hiking:The Salzkammergut is a walker’s paradise with its endless forests, wildflower meadows and stunning scenery of the Dachstein area, with numerous sign posted walks & climbing routes.
The fantastic local guided walking program starts in mid August and runs through until the end of October and offers guided walks and hikes of varying degrees of difficulty. Walks can be pre-booked at the tourist office. www.wanderherbst.net

The village of Obertraun has some fantastic restaurants from Pizza to locally caught fish and local specialties. All are within easy walking distance, but if you want to venture further afield the town of Hallstatt has a plenty of good restaurants to try.
You'll never be stuck for something to do when you visit the area. In and around Obertraun you'll find tennis courts, horse riding, golf courses, canoing, biking, para gliding, climbing and of course skiing. Not to mention the extensive guided walking programme that starts in Mid August until the end of October. The area truly has something to offer everyone.

Embedded in the majestic Dachstein mountains, on the eastern shores of Hallstättersee lake, Obertraun is a renowned starting point for excursions to the world-famous Dachstein Caves (Giant Ice Cave, Mammoth Cave), accessible via the Dachstein mountain railways, and the beautiful Koppenbrüllerhöhle Cave (water cave) down in the valley.
