Description of Holiday Chalet

A beautiful catered chalet (Chambre d'Hote), this 200 year old traditional mountain house is huddled among seven other houses in the picturesque hamlet of Ribot Huez, a 10 minute drive from the resort of Alpe d’Huez and only 8 minutes drive from Bourg d’Oisans. The chalet is a catered chalet in the ski season and offers cycling accommodation in the summer season. Its location offers tranquil accommodation on Alpe d’Huez a stones throw away from the hustle and bustle of this cosmopolitan resort. Our Chalet can offer both catered accommodation and self catering accommodation on Alpe d’Huez. The chalet is at an elevation of 1200 meters and is surrounded by pine forests and overlooks the valley of Bourg d’Oisans, the views from the Chalet are truly awe inspiring.

The Chalet (Chambre d'Hote), boasts a magnificent communal lounge which has its original vaulted ceiling, open log fire and spectacular south facing views overlooking the valley of Bourg d'Oisans and surrounding mountain ranges. Breakfast and evening meals are served in this lounge, where our banqueting style table offers the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends and discuss the days adventures! A warm, cosy lounge area provides seating for all our guests with home comforts such as English satellite TV, 42 inch plasma, DVD, play station, games and books.

All our meals are home cooked with the freshest local ingredients. Our winter menu offers our guests a taste of some of the regional specialities such as the beautifully decadent ‘Tartiflette’. In contrast our summer menu is geared towards the health conscious cycling and active clients, offering low fat dishes such as the traditional Spanish ’Potatas Bravas’. We invite our guests to kick back and relax by the open log fire, after a tiring day of cycling or the slopes and let us take care of everything!

Skiing Facilities

The resort of Alpe d’Huez and the surrounding area, named the Oisans region, is simply a stunning part of the world. It boasts some of the most varied and picturesque skiing you will find in the whole of the French Alpes and Europe for that matter. As mentioned before on the winter page, Alpe d'Huez is well know for its family ski holidays due to its compatibility with the novice and intermediate skier. However, for this very reason, Alpe d'Huez is also an incredible resort for the more advanced skier who wants to experience the fresh powder snow that can remain untouched for days on end after a heavy snow fall.
Believe me, you don’t have to venture far from the piste to find untouched, virgin snow to put 'that' smile on your face!

What makes us a cycle specific chalet?
Daniel and Susan who own and run Chalet Ribot are keen riders themselves. Daniel is an ex-road-rider turned cross country mountain biker who is now an avid fan of downhill mountain biking. We know what cyclists want and need, comfortable beds, hot powerful showers, relaxed and cosy atmosphere and most importantly, fantastic home cooked, healthy food, with man sized portions! The chalet has its very own bike shed with work shop, wash area for cleaning the bikes down, track pumps, bike stands, jigs and a large selection of specially made riding maps and guides for all the routes in the area.

Chalet Ribot offers cycling accommodation on Alpe d’Huez for cyclists of all disciplines and abilities. We mostly accommodate road cyclists but also welcome mountain bikers with open arms as Daniel is a keen downhill mountain biker himself. Chalet Ribot is in a perfect location to offer you access to both the resorts of Alpe d’Huez and Les 2 Alpes. Both areas have an incredible array of downhill runs, cross country trails and free ride routes accompanied by multiple 4x tracks, bike parks, dirt jumps and North Shore structures.
