Lough Derg Lake is one of Irelands finest lakes near the River Shannon and is known for its course fishing. Only 2.5 km away is Whitegate village and Mountshannon village, which offer shops, pubs and restaurants. The village Killaloe is situated 20 minutes away. Nearby amenities include golfing, fishing, boating and water sports, the famous East Clare walk and horse riding. There are many historical cities in this area eg Holy Island, Bunratty Castle. An angling boat and outboard are available by arrangement and there is a private pier. Only 2.5 km away is Whitegate village and Mountshannon village, which offer shops, pubs and restaurants. These houses are ideally located for anyone interested in fishing/angling. We provide bait fridges and tackle storage. The pier is located at the end of the garden and we have 19ft Angler Fancy lakeboats available for hire. Lough Derg is the largest lake on the river Shannon. The lake is a natural mixed fishery offering superb pike and coarse fishing. There are many islands and sheltered bays near to our accommodation that offer interesting and exciting places for fishing. Bream, Tench, Rudd, Roach, Perch and Pike can be fished from a lake boat.

The most popular type of anling is pike/coarse angling. There are also other species of fish aswell such as Roach, Bream and perch. Lough Derg is famous for its huge Roach and Bream shoals.

How to get there

Shannon Airport is a 45 minute drive from our houses. Dublin Airport is a three and a half hour drive.

Beaches

We are located directly on the shore of Lough Derg, Co. Clare with beautiful views of this lake. We also have a pier at the end of the garden.

Golf

Portumna's 18 hole golf club is located about 30 minute drive from our houses. There is also a nine hole golf course and eighteen hole pitch and putt about one mile from Mountshannon village. The green fees are very reasonable and fantastic views of the lake and surounding mountains can be had from the well kept fairways.

Horse Riding

An Sibin Horse riding centre is located just outside Whitegate village and offer a wide range of lessons and trecks around this beautiful area.
