If you are enthusiastic for the great outdoors, make a visit or take a walk around the nearby Lough Corrib. It's really close to the cottage and is Connemara’s most popular and world-famous fishing lake. You will find lots of beautiful walks and trails - the Western-Way is right on the doorstep.

Book up to enjoy a magnificent boat trip on 'Ophelia' across or around the nearby Lough Corrib. Maybe a peaceful day's fishing would suit you or just a chill-out time to explore any one of the 300 or so beautiful neighbouring islands.

Cleaning and the supply of all bedlinen and towels is included in the weekly costs.

Dove Cottage in Connemara, Galway, Ireland:
A traditional village in the West of Ireland, Oughterard is nestled beside Lough Corrib (the largest lake in the Republic), at the start of the Connemara Mountain Range and approximately 17km from Galway City. Ideal for walkers, hikers and families who enjoy the outdoor life.
Oughterard village and all its charms approx 3 minute drive. The beautiful medieval city of Galway 25 minutes. Clifden 40 minutes approx. places of interest Kylemore Abbey, Cong Castle. Connnamara walks and drives.

Shannon airport about 125km. Galway airport about 25 minutes drive. Knock airport about 1 hour and a half drive. Car is essential and recommended.

The cottage is situated at the Gateway to Connemara. The area's fantastic beaches are approximately a 20 minute drive, but well worth seeing or spending the day on the beach.

Known as a Parklands Par 70 / 71 course, it comprises of 18 championship holes that are lined with mature native Irish trees, including Oak, Hazel and Birch. It is an excellent test of golf, with numerous water features, sand bunkers etc. that are strategically placed to protect the par of the course. The course is situated between Lough Corrib to the East and the Connemara Mountains to the North and North West to give a truly spectacular setting.
