The Wicklow Mountains is one of Ireland most scenic areas. The area is a walkers paradise with countless opportunities to get away from it all in beautiful unspoilt mountain scenery. Whether you want a gentle stroll in lovely surroundings or prefer a more energetic all day hike there is always a wide choice for every taste. Waterfalls, mountain lakes and deep glaciated valleys all provide a wonderful backdrop for walkers of every ability. Deer, foxes and hares can all be seen in the quiet glens and kestrels, merlin and peregrine falcons can also be spotted with a bit of luck. There is little in the way of man- made settlement in the mountains but with a bit of careful planning it should be possible to ensure that your hill walking day ends at a good pub!

From The Irish Times:
'Aughavannagh Cottage was recently described by The Irish Times as ‘High in the Wicklow Mountains, just the most picture perfect example of a country home. It retains the 19th century cottage feel, but with all the comforts of a good home away from home.’

From The Sunday Business Post:
‘Tucked away in a forested valley in the Wicklow mountains, the 19th century Aughavannagh Cottage is lovingly restored with all mod cons. Located on the mid-way point of the Wicklow Way, it is an ideal base to explore nearby glens, old military roads, pilgrim trails and remote mountain routes and Glendalough and Brittas Bay beach are less than half an hour away’.
