Bird watchers paradise! Between us and the sea is Salgados Marsh - whilst not a bird reserve in the strict sense it abounds all year with a wonderful selection of birds. You have uncluttered access to it a short walk from the villa - the lake at the centre borders the golf course to one side and public open space on the other. RSPB members get a discount on our villa rental.

If it's nightlife you want then go to Albufeira five miles away - very good restaurants and bars in Guia and Gale just down the road a couple of miles. The Quinta has its own excellent restaurant and bar. In the villa are details of local interests, restaurants etc. You can also ask the helpful staff in the office (Fernando and Alice)

The villa is set in a private valley - used to be an orange farm: 25 acres for you to wander around in - good walking country and none of the villas are overlooked either by each other or by other villas - complete privacy ensured! Birds and flowers abound: the gardens are tended by the gardeners emplyed by the Quinta. You don't get it any better on the Algarve - you even have a clear view across the marsh and sand dunes to the sea about a mile away, maybe a little more.

FARO is the nearest airport - approx 45 minutes away part by national road and part by motorway - see our website for full location and arrival information. Train (express) to Lisbon from local station in three hours - four trains a day each way. SEVILLE is an alternate airport - cheap with Ryanair: approx three hours drive to the Quinta but all by motorway in Spain and part motorway/part national road in Portugal. Make sure the hire car insurance is covered for Portugal if flying to Seville - usually is no problem but check.

The nearest beach is about a mile away - you can drive and park by the sand dunes or walk there from the villa in about 25 minutes. Other beaches and small beach restaurants at Gale about three miles away.

Salgados Golf Course is a couple of miles away and almost visible from the roof terrace. Special discounts for guests at the Quinta.
