Montesacro Holiday Rentals Guide
The city of Montesacro is a fascinating place to take a holiday or short break. There are many wonderful sights to see and places to explore that you will hardly have time to fit them all in. The historical centre of the city is the oldest area of Rome, and is situated on the left side of the river Tiber. An unusual place to visit is the Testaccio district, which has always been the meeting point for the Roman people who enjoyed carnival parties and religious feasts that took place during the Middle Ages.
Holidaymakers will find it’s easy to travel to Montesacro in Rome as there are flights from most European cities and towns that take only a couple of hours or so. A good first stop after arriving in Rome's Montesacro area should be to the nearest Tourist Information Office, where you can obtain the necessary guides or maps you require. Rome’s city metro system is popular but is often very busy in peak periods.
Self catering accommodation in Rome is plentiful and will allow you the freedom to move around when you want. Rome is quite a good ‘walking city’ so you’ll be on your feet a lot! Your holiday accommodation will never be far from the gastronomic heart of Rome, where you can sample the delightful Italian cuisine at its best. The city culture for food is to dine-out wherever you can. Meals can be expensive but if you move away from the main sights, restaurants are much quieter and generally better value for money.
Along with the popular cathedrals, fountains, monuments and churches, remember to make time for the Vatican. The whole of Vatican City is so beautiful and there’s much to take in and enjoy here, that one visit will rarely be enough. Be sure to visit St Peter’s. The magnificent Dome, designed by Michelangelo is awe inspiring, as is so much of this vast sacred shrine. Another must, is to visit the Sistine Chapel, you may have to queue for this, but again, Michelangelo’s wonderful work of Frescoes to the ceilings and walls are spectacular. Try to arrive early, you’ll see much of what you want before the ‘tours’ arrive.
Other popular sights worth seeing, include the massive fortress of Castel Sant’Angelo, a splendid castle that sits beside the River Tiber: Piazza Navona and The Pantheon. Away from the Vatican, ancient archaeological Roman sites such as the Colosseum, Palantine Hill are all very interesting. The famous Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the Santa Maria Maggiore basilica should also be on your list to see.
