Ponto do Sol is a small village located on Madeira's South West Coast between the towns of Ribeira Brava and Calheta. The journey from airport at Funchal to Ponto do Soll takes approximately 30 minutes by car or Taxi. Ponta do Sol has its own beach which has been designed for 'safe swimming' and is barely a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from your chosen holiday accommodation, but holidaymakers will find Calheta Beach is nearly 15 minutes by car and has man-made sandy beaches and a Marina.
Neighbouring Ribeira Brava is aproximately 10 minutes by car and enjoys the facilities of the beach plus an open air pool. There are several more beach areas dotted along the coastline of the island - all just waiting to be explored and enjoyed.
For sporting enthusiasts, there are currently two Golf Courses. First, Palheiro Golf Course in Funchal (aprox 25 minutes from Ponta do Sol)and secondly Santa da Serra Golf Course - (aprox 45 minutes from Ponta do Sol).
Scuba Diving in Madeira is also available to arrange from many hotels in Funchal and Canico de Baixo, and those who prefer Horse Riding, can book rides when available in Santa de Serra.
